I had an inquiry about a
month ago from the son of a Co A man (Bill Sears) and he sent this site to
me. It has a wealth of information about Frankfurt but there are links at
the bottom of the page for other cities (I believe) although with dialup,
downloading takes a long time. I hope you guys enjoy this one. - Dale Rice http://www.usarmygermany.com/USAREUR_City_Frankfurt.htm |

| Question: Is there anyone out there that can remember taking part in GEN Omar Bradley's visit to Frankfurt Germany on September 2, 1947? The February 9, 2006 Stars and Stripes republished an article on the visit. If you can recall who the escort MP unit was, we would be interested in hearing from you so we can mention if it was part of the 709th MP BN. The article only mentions 709th MP SVC BN as being reviewed by Gen Bradley but does not specifically mention the MP unit that met and escorted him into Frankfurt. |
| Answer: The escort for Gen Omar N. Bradley on 2 Sept 1947 was carried out by my Platoon, the HQ Co. 709th MP BN, Motor Cycle Platoon under the command of CPT Paul L. Cook, with Platoon SGT Ray Wright. Just one of many honors we had in escorting big wheels, from Queens to BG etc.. Stan Booher |
